“For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.”
2 Corinthians 7:10
Thought
What is your reaction when you receive an apology and you know that it wasn't sincere? Probably totally different than God's reaction when we repent for transgressions that we repeat over and over again. Even when we repeatedly fail Him, God is still compassionate and willing to forgive (Psalm 78:38). Paul urges us not to continue to sin just because God is gracious (Romans 6:1,2). Thankfully, He reminds us that the price for sin is death, but sincere (godly) repentance results in the gift of eternal life (Romans 6:23). Real change may not be simple and we may lose some friends. But real change brings salvation. Let's choose REAL change this day.
Prayer
Most Gracious and Heavenly Father, we thank you for being the God of love and compassion. Thank you for the blood that was shed for the remission of my sins. Help me not to take your grace for granted. I confess that I've fallen short of your high standards and I thank you for multiple chances to correct it. You are a great God! Thank you for forgiveness. In Jesus Name, Amen.
