Prayer Focus: Anoint Our Leader

“Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness."
Colossians 1:11
Thought
Power. Patience. Longsuffering. Three strengths working together to make a complete leader. Since the people don't belong to us, leaders must lead God's heritage according to His commands. When unbalanced, the leader becomes ineffective. Too much power leads to impatience towards the flock. Too much patience allows the flock to run over the leader and degrades their authority. Overly longsuffering causes the leader to be overwhelmed and worn out. But all three together makes a well-rounded leader who displays strength, compassion, and courage to endure. With these strengths, leaders can be the example that God called us to be (1 Peter 5:2, 3).
Prayer
Most Gracious and Heavenly Father, thank you for entrusting me to lead your heritage. I understand that they do not belong to me, but they belong to you. He me not to walk after my flesh, but order my steps according to your Word and by your Spirit. Help me to be well-rounded in all good things so that I may be the example to the people that you need me to be. Thank you for the gift of leadership! In Jesus Name, Amen.
