Lesson 14: The Lord Is Your Keeper (Psalm 121)
Questions:
- The place where we experience fear and anxiety might suggest what our modern idols are. How can we pray for God’s help in these areas? How can your community assist you in this?
- How does God’s role as Creator make Him more qualified to be our help? How does the preeminence of Christ over creation make Him qualified to be our Savior?
- How does the psalmist describe the protection God provides? What does it mean that God is your “keeper?”
Preparation
As believers, we enjoy the protection of the Creator of heaven and earth. This protection is beautifully portrayed in Psalm 121, a psalm of confidence and one of the “Songs of Ascents” (Ps 120-134). This tile most like refers to an “ascent” made by pilgrims to Jerusalem to worship. These psalms frequently mention Jerusalem and Zion; they also refer to temples.
