Lesson 7: The Word of God (Hebrews 4:11-13)

- What “rest” are we to strive to enter, and why (4:11)? (See 3:5-19)
- What is the Word of God? (See how God speaks creation into being in Gen 1, the prophetic word of God in Ezekiel 12:17-28, the word made flesh in John 1:1-4, 14-18, and the taught/received word in 1 Thessalonians 2:13-16 and James 1:21-27)
- What is the first way the author describes the word of God (4:12a)? What is the meaning of this description? What are the other four ways the author describes the word of God (4:12a-e)? (The first way is the principle behind the four ways.)
- Who is hidden from the sight of God (4:13a)? Who has to give account to God (4:13b)?
