Bible Study Lesson – September 30, 2020 ~ 7:30 pm
Lesson 3: Have You Forgotten Us? (Psalm 44)
Questions:
- How would accounts of God’s past deeds influence the people to trust God during times of struggles?
- Why would the psalmist attribute their defeat to God rejecting them?
- Have you ever felt like God has abandoned you? How can the psalmist’s strong language, directed toward God, encourage you during trials?
- The psalmist repeats his assertion that the people have not forgotten God. Why do you think the psalmist emphasizes the people’s faithfulness?
Preparation
Psalm 44 is a corporate (group) lament psalm that would likely have been recited after a military defeat. At times, the psalmist addresses God bluntly to remind God of their faithfulness to Him. Psalm 44 shows us how to continue to trust God, even when it appears that He has forgotten us.
