Lesson 25: The Lost Coin (Luke 15:8-10)
Questions:
- What ways does the Parable of the Lost Sheep (Luke 15:1-7) explain the Parable of the Lost Coin (Luke 15:8-10)? What’s thematically the same about both parables?
- Jesus tells these parables during his last journey to Jerusalem. In light of this, what was He preparing His disciples to do?
- What is Jesus’ view of the downtrodden and those who are far from God? What is Jesus’ view of the religious establishment of His day?
- What value does God place on the life of each and every person?
Preparation
We’ll cover the importance of the missing “one” in the Parable of the Lost Coin, but what about the importance of the remaining pieces? How important is it to protect what we have while we look to retrieve the lost? We cannot be lax with the remaining pieces, but we must remain diligent to protect, keep, and cherish what we have (relationship).
