"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice,
holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service." Romans 12:1
Fasting and praying is one of the greatest tools of the believer to submit to God’s Will for their lives AND to weaken your flesh and strengthen your spirit man. To grow stronger physically, we exercise, lift weights, and/or workout. In addition, we begin to eat more properly, throwing away the junk and fattie foods, and choose a healthier diet. To grow spiritually, we must do things that help us to grow our spirit-man. Fasting strengthens us by helping us to put down things that our flesh desires. Praying draws us into a closer relationship with God. Reading the Word teaches us God’s ways and His record. In Matthew 6:33, we are encouraged to “seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” By giving God the first fruits, we will position ourselves to receive great things from Him in 2015.
