Prayer Focus: Repentance, Renewal and Refreshing
Daily Prayer Line (7:00 – 7:15 a.m.) – 605.562.0020 x324-346-203
“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.”
Psalm 51:10-12
Thought
In Romans 8, Paul talks about the freedom that comes with walking in the Spirit and not in the flesh. If we walk after the Spirit, then sin no longer has us bound. But when we allow sin to control us, overwhelm us, and dictate our lives, we'll find ourselves on the outside looking in. The presence of God should be the most important thing in our lives. David's pleas should be reminded of two things: 1) we need to be thankful for God's gift to every believer (Ephesians 1:13-14) and 2) we need to remember how sin affects His dwelling within us (Ephesians 4:30). However, when we do fall short, if we cry out to God, He will provide forgiveness, renewal and refreshing.
Prayer
Most Gracious and Heavenly Father, Thank you for the gift of your Holy Spirit. I cannot understand why you love me so much, but I thank you for being everything that I need and more. Your presence is more than life to me. Since I am your temple, I understand that everything that I do – live, move and my very being – should reflect you. Clean me up Lord, inside and out, so that your glory will be revealed in me. In Jesus Name, Amen.
